Pulse (“Pulse,” “we,” “us”) is a local-first contact graph and meetup tracker published by Vulcan Collective. This policy explains what information the app handles, how optional cloud features work, and the choices you have.
1. Overview
Pulse is designed to keep your relationship data on your device. You can use the app fully offline without creating an account. If you choose to sign in, we sync selected data to our cloud provider so it can follow you across your devices.
2. Information we handle
Depending on how you use Pulse, the app may process:
- Contacts you add or import — names, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays, photos, notes, interest tags, and relationship links you create in Pulse.
- Meetups and reminders — dates, activities, participants, and optional photos or videos you attach.
- Account information — email address and authentication details if you sign up with email, or identifiers provided by Google if you use Google sign-in.
- Device permissions data — with your permission, Pulse can read and update device contacts, access your photo library for contact and meetup media, and add meetup events to your calendar.
- Diagnostics — optional crash and performance reports via Sentry (when configured), which may include device technical details. Session replay, if enabled, is configured to mask sensitive on-screen content.
- Product analytics — anonymous event counts (for example app opens, meetup created, sign-in succeeded). Event properties are written so they do not include names, phone numbers, emails, or message bodies.
- Feedback — text you voluntarily send through the in-app feedback form while signed in.
- Backups you export — JSON backups you create and share yourself remain under your control; we do not receive them unless you email or upload them to us.
3. How we use information
We use this information to:
- Provide Pulse’s core features on your device
- Sync your Pulse data across devices when you are signed in
- Authenticate your optional account
- Understand product usage at an aggregate level
- Fix crashes and improve reliability
- Respond to support requests and feedback you send
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your contacts or meetup content for advertising.
4. Local storage vs. cloud sync
By default, Pulse stores contacts, relationships, meetups, and media references in on-device storage. Cloud sync is optional. When you create an account and sign in, we store your Pulse data with our backend provider, Supabase, under row-level security so each account can only access its own rows and private media files.
Signing out keeps local data on the device and stops cloud sync. It does not by itself delete your cloud account or server-side data.
5. Third parties
Depending on configuration, Pulse may share data with:
- Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and analytics event storage for signed-in / synced features.
- Google — if you choose Google sign-in, Google’s authentication service processes the sign-in.
- Sentry — crash reporting and diagnostics when a Sentry project is configured for the build you install.
- Apple — App Store distribution and related platform services.
These providers process data on our behalf to operate Pulse. They are not permitted to use your Pulse content for their own marketing.
6. Data retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall Pulse. Cloud data for a signed-in account is retained until you delete the account or request deletion. Crash and analytics records are retained only as long as needed for reliability and product improvement, then deleted or aggregated.
7. Your choices and account deletion
- You can decline device permissions; related features will be limited.
- You can use Pulse without signing in; no cloud account is created.
- You can export a backup of your Pulse data from the app.
- To delete a cloud account and associated server-side Pulse data, open Profile in the app and choose Delete account. You can remove your cloud account only, or delete cloud and local data from the device. You can also email support@vulcancollective.com from the address on the account. We will delete account data within a reasonable period unless a limited retention is required by law.
8. Children
Pulse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. International users
If you use cloud sync, your account data may be processed in the regions where our service providers operate. By creating an account, you understand that processing may occur outside your home country, subject to applicable safeguards those providers maintain.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Pulse after an update means you accept the revised policy.
